Israel Philharmonic Orchestra

In 1936, Polish violinist Bronislaw Huberman stepped back from his immensely successful career to create a symphony orchestra in the desert outpost of Palestine. Huberman assembled 75 of the finest Jewish musicians of Europe who narrowly escaped a world that would soon be torn apart by anti-Semitism and Nazi aggression , and his selfless efforts, supported by Arturo Toscanini, Albert Einstein and many others, ultimately saved almost 1,000 Jews from the Nazi Holocaust and changed the landscape of cultural history forever.

Throughout its 84 years, the Israel Philharmonic has toured the world, serving as Israel’s foremost cultural emissary and bringing a message of harmony and peace.
