William Tyler and Trudy Gold
The Meaning of Words

Thursday 23.07.2026

How to watch

This lecture starts on 23 July at 5:00pm (UK).

Summary

Words are constantly changing—new ones added, old ones dropped, words that over time change their meaning. However, today there are strong political and social pressures at work; from woke trigger warnings to university students in areas such as history and literature, to the minefield of woke gender terms, to the redefinition of words such as “genocide.” In conversation, Trudy and William bravely dive into these turbulent waters.
