Summary

Social media and AI are reshaping the information landscape and human behavior in far-reaching ways—with consequences for democracy, our kids, and our shared grasp on reality. Drawing on thinkers like Jonathan Rauch, Jonathan Haidt, Renée DiResta, and Christine Rosen, we examine the design choices behind our feeds, the individual and collective costs of life online, the weaponization of these platforms by hostile state actors, and the new distortions AI is layering on top. We also consider how parents and schools should navigate these technologies, and explore the new wave of litigation and regulations aimed at holding platforms accountable.
