Summary
Joseph Stalin (d. 1953) was a monster responsible for the deaths of countless millions of his fellow citizens. The worst of his excesses included the Great Purge, collectivisation leading to mass famine, the Gulag system, and the relocation of various ethnic groups. After WWII, he became even more paranoid and even more vicious—a period that saw a rise in antisemitism. Stalinism, as an ideology, was the bastard child of Marxist-Leninism, and based upon terror. Stalin has left a dreadful legacy for the Russia of the 21st century.
