How to watch
This lecture starts on 26 February at 5:00pm (UK).
Summary
A bawdy tale of political intrigue. A story in which God’s name does not appear. How can Jews see wisdom in a work that seems to glorify secular politics, unseemly celebration, and intermarriage? Artists from Tintoretto and Michelangelo to Rembrandt and Salvador Dali revelled in its theatrical beauty.
