In this lecture we explore the spectacular reign of the Timurid Dynasty (1370–1507), its ouster from Samarkand, and its subsequent transformation into the Mughal Empire in India, where we examine the wonder of the Taj Mahal and its enduring significance.

Zvi Ben-Dor Benite teaches Chinese History, Middle Eastern and Islamic history, and sometimes Jewish history, at New York University.
