Three Italian Cities, Part 1: Lucca

Sunday 14.12.2025

How to watch

This lecture starts on 14 December at 5:00pm (UK).

Summary

Lucca’s perfectly preserved 16th-century walls contain one of the most picturesque cities in Europe with Romanesque churches, Baroque palaces, and perhaps most surprisingly, many Art Nouveau and Art Deco shop fronts and interiors. Less plagued by mass tourism than other Italian cities, Lucca offers many delights to the discerning visitor.
