William Tyler
Nationalism and Socialism Raise Their Ugly Head

Monday 27.10.2025

How to watch

This lecture starts on 27 October at 5:00pm (UK).

Summary

The late 19th and early 20th centuries both saw a rise in nationalism, which sadly exploded into war in 1914, as well as a rise in Socialism, whose major triumph was to be the overthrow of the Russian monarchy in 1917. In this timely lecture, we bring our focus to bear on the rise and influence of these two ideas pre war, thus setting the scene for the stories to come.
