How to watch

This lecture starts on 4 September at 7:00pm (UK).

Summary

Why were so many Jewish people living in Lithuania in the 19th century, and why were their lives becoming more difficult at the time? What were the forces that led to emigration and to where? What happened to those who remained during both World War I and the Holocaust. How has the Lithuanian government and society tried to come to terms with this in the postwar period?
